  1. leader badge
The most valuable feature is the Zero Touch Operations, which involves a new way of performing operations and support. We do not have to do maintenance, the operations are very simple.
  2. leader badge
Some of the primary features we leverage in the platform have to do with how we manage the cluster configurations, the properties, and the auto-scalability. These are the features that definitely provide value in terms of reducing overhead for the developers.

  4. VMware Tanzu Mission Control has many valuable features, such as ease of use and customization. The multi-tenancy with the VCD is great.
  5. The solution has a lot of good features, such as you can access the console and edit through the GUI. The dashboard and the UI are designed well, user-friendly, and easy to manage, and access.
  6. The solution is embedded in the hypervisor and there are no deployment costs. The technical support is excellent.
  7. The solution has very good basic features.Break down your application into small modules to improve resiliency

  9. The most valuable feature is definitely the fact that you can use a single platform to deploy to different resource providers. Right now, the version I'm using has vSphere and AWS, but I know in the future they're planning on adding more. The ability to deploy clusters on-prem or to any number of public cloud providers is really valuable because you don't need to relearn or switch platforms to switch resource providers.
  10. What I really like about Amazon ECS is its simplicity and ease of use. Amazon also has really good security. The containerization is a valuable feature for us.
Why do containers need management?

The purpose of container management is so that systems can work more efficiently. At some point the number of containers becomes too vast for an IT team to handle, and a container management system becomes imperative.

Effective container management helps keep environments more secure and also makes it more flexible and easier to develop new apps.

Container management also offers automation enabling developers to keep up with rapid changes.

Why use container management?

Container management is necessary for the rapid deployment and updating of applications. It makes security, orchestration, and networking easier.

What are the benefits of container management?

The benefits of container management include:

  • Simplified administration of clusters of container hosts, which saves on time and resources needed for DevOps processes.

  • Ease of setup.

  • Automation of processes, such as log management, load balancing, monitoring, orchestration, networking, secrets management, and testing. Automation enables organizations to manage containerized environments that are too large for human operators to keep up with.

  • Continuous/automatic health checks, monitoring the environment for containers that have stalled or failed.
What are the challenges of container management?

While container management offers many benefits, it also comes with some challenges.

  • Complexity - Containers are a relatively new technology. Installation and setup for tools used for container orchestration can be arduous and prone to errors.

  • Security - A container’s lightweight package means it is more vulnerable to hacking. So do dependencies, such as API servers and monitoring and management tools.

  • Integration - Existing legacy infrastructures might need to be updated in order to provide the API integration or connectivity necessary to support a container ecosystem.

  • Storage - Any information in a container will be lost when the container shuts down, as containers are ephemeral (designed to be operational only when needed). In order to retain container-based information, you must adopt and use container storage tools.

  • Troubleshooting - Containers often switch between hosts, which means that new container monitoring tools need to be added in order to track what containers are allocated to which hosts.
How can containerized storage help reduce IT costs?

1. Lower overall costs due to a smaller compute footprint.

2. Moving to a stateless and ephemeral architecture dramatically reduces the need for persistent storage and means spending less money on storage.

3. Containers help improve the productivity and efficiency of staff by automating provisioning and deprovisioning. It also simplifies storage management by removing dependencies on server-specific applications.

4. Using immutable container images reduces the amount of storage capacity consumed.

5. Sharing redundant information among containers leads to lower storage costs.

6. As the features and benefits of containers continue to improve, competition drives the cost down, so that container management is getting better and cheaper every day.
